4th of July-Thoughts on the Holiday

Fourth-of-july-wallpaper6 (1)

I wanted to take some time today, to truly reflect on the holiday of July 4th. In our current society it’s mainly used as an excuse to drink and party, but I don’t think it gets all the respect it truly deserves. I think we’re so used to what we have, that we forget to respect that those who helped form this country had to risk everything to get it. Even then, they didn’t have everything we have today. We have to realize that even with the technological advances today, we could still lose it all in the blink of an eye.

We can have fun on the 4th of July but we have to remember who we are, where we came from and how we got here. We need to implement patriotism into the everyday, not once a year. The only other times that we are extremely patriotic is when another country attacks us or starts a war, then everyone becomes patriotic. Why does it take a war to instill pride for our country? Why can’t we be proud to be an American every day? We are apart of a country where, for the most part, there is peace. There are other countries out there today that are still fighting wars, children are growing up with it as a norm, while our children here grow up with something much more peaceful.

Let’s remember those that have died for us, protected  us from the evils in this world. Let’s all enjoy our family, friends on another Fourth of July where we can say we are free. Happy 4th of July!!
